
who is maryka?
As a designer, illustrator and art director, maryka’s professional experience covers the waterfront. She has extensive experience in greeting card, giftwrap, packaging and gift product development and design, has illustrated more than 20 trade books for children and adults, developed merchandising plans for retail and library display, designed retail product lines and ad campaigns and is currently licensing her designs for application to clothing and home products.
Through her designs, maryka’s mission is to help others free themselves to achieve their goals by opening minds to new perspectives and the endless possibilities in life. She promotes ways of exploring, learning and growing that are infused with joy.

where has she been?
Hallmark Cards, Inc. is where she started. Along the way, she’s worked in-house for greeting card and giftwrap companies like Drawing Board, Carlton Cards and Highpoint Packaging, served as visual arts manager for Anythink Libraries and
freelanced for clients including American Airlines, Chronicle Books, Consilient Restaurants, Creative Teaching Press, DDBO, Houghton-Mifflin, HRC, Inter-Visual Press, Klutz, MacMillan Publishing, McDonald’s, Ogilvy & Mather, Penguin Putnam Books, Random House, SC Johnson & Co., Scholastic, UNICEF and many others.

awards? shows? special projects?
maryka has collected awards from the Dallas Society of Illustrators, Step magazine, The National School Bookseller’s Association, and the American Library Association's John Cotton Dana Award for excellence in public relations. Her work has been shown at the Society of Illustrators in New York, the Dallas Society of Illustrators, Brookhaven College, galleries throughout the southwest and the family gallery at the Art Institute of Chicago.
She is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, Denver Alliance of Illustrators, Ladies Who Launch and Mensa.
maryka has developed many special projects, including artist-in-residence visits to Chicago and Dallas area public schools, interior murals for businesses, a comprehensive proposal for public art projects at Anythink Libraries in Adams County, CO, and recently designed a display on the power of creativity designed to help viewers tap into their own creative strengths.
